I started my career as a bit of a unicorn. A rare female copywriter at one of the UKs most creative and tough ad agencies in a department of competitive guys. It was no wonder when I started out I had little confidence.

But being a unicorn had its advantages. It made me more unique, helped me forge my own path and gave me a pretty tough skin under all the sparkle. Now twenty years on - and lots of shiny awards and successful campaigns later - i'm in a position to pass on what I learnt working on some of the best and most effective campaigns in the world.
Being able to write and move people with words is a powerful and liberating thing, and comes in useful in all aspects of my life beyond my day job. Now it's time to pay it forward and help support others in their writing, empowering them to improve their businesses' success through better copy and unlocking the freedom that better communication brings.
I also write articles on parenthood and the challenges of raising an autistic son, alongside female-centric issues surrounding work and motherhood.
I'm co-founder of Woodism (woodism.co.uk) an art collaboration championing autism and neurodiversity, selling prints written by my autistic son, Woody.
I also consult directly with fledgling companies and brands, guiding them to find their tone-of-voice, pen their brand story and write content that resonates with their audience. Many of these companies are female-led. Helping other unicorns find their wings.
